The end of summer awaits the new Biennale del Cinema 2023 (August 30 September 9).
The Eightieth edition of the Film Festival dedicates the opening to the unforgettable Gina Lollobrigida, an icon of Italian cinema who passed away last January.
In Sala Darsena in the Palazzo del Cinema on the Lido of Venice will be presented in world premiere, starting at 21:00:
– Portrait of Gina (1958, 27’) by Orson Welles, in collaboration with Cinecittà, in the version restored for the occasion by the Filmmuseum in Munich.
– La provinciale (1953, 113′) by Mario Soldati, in collaboration with Compass Film, in the version restored for the occasion by the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia-Cineteca Nazionale
The Venice Glass Week 2023 (9-17 September)
The Kid’s Program is back in collaboration with MUVE Education and, thanks to the Promovetro Murano Consortium and Select, The Floating Furnace.
Among the new features: The Venice Glass Week HUB Tours, free guided tours of the two HUBs, the exhibitions at Palazzo Loredan displaying a selection of works by international glass artists, with a focus on the under 35s, and The Venice Glass Week Tours, craft workshops in Venice and in some Murano furnaces.

The seventh edition of The Venice Glass Week, the international festival created in 2017 to celebrate, support and promote the art of glass, between Venice, Murano and Mestre, will be in Venice from 9 to 17 September.
The title-hashtag #TheArtofFire focuses attention on fire: the main element for the processing of artistic glass that burns tirelessly every day in the Venetian furnaces.
The first edition in Venice of the Salone dell’Alto Italian Craftsmanship
For the first time, the excellence of know-how meets in Venice from 28 September to 1 October for the first appointment with the High-end Italian Craftsmanship Exhibition, promoted by the Municipality of Venice.
From ceramics to precious fabrics, from blown glass works to precious stones, from jewels to furniture: the best craftsmen from all over Italy will be hosted for four days at the Tese dell’Arsenale, one of the most surprising spaces in Venice, a forge and symbol of ancient crafts and a long artisan tradition handed down for centuries.
“Venice, with the Salone dell’Alto Artigianato Italiano, celebrates Italian excellence and has decided to do it right at the Arsenale which embodies the Venetian tradition and has represented, for centuries, the place of engineering supremacy of the Venice of the Serenissima worldwide.
The event will be an opportunity for enthusiasts and experts to meet the craftsmen in person, discover their history and the creative process behind the birth of each individual object. Workshops, events and conferences to explore issues related to craftsmanship and art, to discover the latest trends and innovations in the sector.
